The 940 performance-driven autoloading platform rocked the world of competitive shooting when introduced in 2020, bearing the name of world champion shooter, Jerry Miculek. Now Mossberg is bringing the same durability, reliability and versatility to hunters with its black synthetic 940 Pro Field 12-gauge shotgun.
At the core of the 940 is a new gas-operating system that will run at greater cleaning intervals, up to 1,500 rounds, and will reliably cycle any type of quality factory-made 2 ¾- or 3-inch ammunition. Standard features include oversized, beveled loading port with redesigned elevator and shell catch to allow for efficient and pinch-free loading into the magazine tube; new barrel-making process to maintain point-of-aim and impact; slim-profile forend and user-configurable stock for length-of-pull (13 – 14.25 inches), drop, and cast; and oversized charging handle and bolt release button.
Performance-enhancing features include nickel boron-coated internal components (gas piston/rings, magazine tube and hammer sear) and the return spring plunger is constructed of hard-anodized aluminum. With the addition of a self-draining stock, the 940 Field is ready to battle the elements.

No matter the pursuit: doves, quail, pheasants, ducks or small game, this all-purpose 12-gauge is equipped for success. Sporting a 28-inch vent-rib barrel with front fiber optic sight, the barrel is also threaded for Mossberg’s AccuChoke system and includes Full, Modified and Improved Cylinder choke tubes. Metal surfaces wear a matte blue finish to complement the black synthetic forend and self-draining stock. Rounding out this field-ready package are aggressive Mossberg signature texturing on the forend and stock; sling swivel studs; 5-round capacity; drilled and tapped receiver; and ambidextrous safety. MSRP: $868
Whether your game of choice is shooting competitively or spending time in the field, Mossberg’s family of 940 autoloaders will ensure that you are equipped with a shotgun that delivers.

Would like to try one of these. I prefer a pump gun for protection but this one looks good.
