When self-styled Beltway pundits start calling Georgians who question election integrity “big liars” while ridiculing their guns and their ways, it’s time to wonder just how desperate they and the people they write for are getting.

U.S.A. – -(Ammoland.com)- “Brian Kemp atones for his anti-Trump heresy by lurching right on guns,” a Wednesday https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/01/05/kemp-trump-guns/+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=u s" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">opinion piece in The Washington Post by “columnist” Paul Waldman hyperbolizes. “That state will be the white-hot center of the 2022 elections, with close races for Senate and governor, and even a high-profile race for secretary of state, where Brad Raffensperger, who refused to steal the 2020 election for Donald Trump, is being challenged by a Trump loyalist.”

“The steal” has now been redirected by the DSM to mean the attempt by Republicans to get satisfactory answers to legitimate questions about numerous documented irregularities in the 2020 elections. Rather than address those concerns, the ubiquitous talking point coined to contemptuously dismiss them without discussion was the word “baseless.” Those still demanding serious and transparent investigations into  evidence to the contrary are — according to Waldman — feeding the “big lie,” which if you think about where the term originated, is the same as embracing the Antifa smear of calling them “Nazis.”

So naturally, that’s another narrative talking point — from Joe Biden on down.

Because of Gov. Brian Kemp’s perceived reluctance after the election to vigorously track down allegations of cheating, and because of Raffensperger’s refusal to open an investigation (into anything but Donald Trump’s telephone call urging him to “find votes” that the president’s information indicated a serious audit would uncover), a significant number of Republican voters have become disillusioned and feel betrayed. With that as background, a primary challenge, and one backed by Trump, is, an understandable political reaction and remedy, and one former Senator David Perdue figures he is positioned to be an alternative for.

“But Kemp’s latest move to win over primary voters isn’t about Trump at all,” Waldman continues. “Kemp has now formally endorsed legislation to allow anyone in Georgia to carry a handgun without a permit, a license, any training, or anything else that might provide even the most minor inconvenience of their Second Amendment rights.”

One wonders if Waldman would characterize prior restraint licensing on his “reporting” as a “minor inconvenience,” but he’s not done with the snark.

“While there isn’t much evidence the Georgia electorate as a whole thinks their average trip to the Piggly Wiggly features an insufficient number of firearms, Kemp appears to believe this is a winning issue among Republican primary voters,” Waldman mocks. “Georgia might have plenty of gun owners, but it’s also a closely divided state that is growing more diverse and wants to attract companies and workers who aren’t all that keen on living amid a state full of Yosemite Sams.”

Change your ways so newcomers fleeing Blue State policies they voted for and pathway to citizenship “immigrants” can now foul your nest, too? And the old, sophisticated urban superiority over flyover rubes trick may work on Beltway “progressives,” but the rest of us know provincial bigotry when we see it. We also see through Waldman’s trademark  Alinsky Rule 5 ridicule and how he weaponizes it, and know that’s necessitated by his lack of substance and original insight. It’s kind of his M.O.

But Waldman has been beating on this particular horse for over a decade, trying to convince readers that gun owners’ ability to influence elections is a “myth.” If so, why is the fact that two candidates are vying over who will do more for gun owners so important for him to shoot down? Perhaps because of this new admission?

“Yet even though the NRA itself is an organization in chaos, the pro-gun cause has seldom if ever been in a better position.”

Back to the “old” Waldman, he continued with his “myth” presumption by trying to convince readers of another one widely promulgated by the left, that Barack Obama actually “expanded gun rights.” In fact, Obama found it politically advantageous to sign an appropriations bill that Democrats wanted that contained a measure intended to allow Amtrak passengers to check declared firearms in with baggage (but that mistakenly required the passengers to be locked in the boxes with their guns!), and a credit card bill that also contained a national parks provision deferring to state law.

This is this same Waldman who hyperventilated that it “https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2014/10/23/the-real-problem-with-joni-ernsts-quote-about-guns-and-the-government/+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=u s" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">borders on anti-democratic” when then-Senate candidate Joni Ernst declared:

“I do believe in the right to carry, and I believe in the right to defend myself and my family — whether it’s from an intruder, or whether it’s from the government, should they decide that my rights are no longer important.”

Come to think of it, “Democracy is tyranny” does sound like one of  Orwell’s INGSOC Party slogans, and unchecked by limited powers and a Bill of Rights, that’s exactly what it becomes.

Unsurprisingly, Waldman justifies his violence monopoly obsession with accusations such as:

“Why the NRA has turned from fear to hate The National Rifle Association is practically calling for an all-out civil war now. Here’s why.”

If Wayne LaPierre & Co. are anti-government extremists and haters, what must that make those who find them way too compromising? That’s a rhetorical question, you already know the answer.

Then there was https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/plum-line/wp/2017/12/12/trumps-disgusting-kirsten-gillibrand-tweet-is-just-the-beginning-of-the-metoo-backlash/+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=u s" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Waldman’s reaction to Trump claiming Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand would “do anything” for campaign contributions:

“But let’s not kid ourselves. We all know what he was saying. In so many words, the president basically just shouted ‘Whore!’ at a U.S. senator.”

Someone who has followed Gillibrand’s serial betrayals, and I have,  might well ask “And your point is?”

Anti-gun males like Waldman know that their smears and lies and attempts at wit aren’t working, and in fact, are starting to backfire on them. Not being anywhere near as clever as they presume themselves to be, they don’t know how to do anything else but double down. Meanwhile, more and more Americans are comparing reality with what media hacks are telling them, meaning his influence and tired, old themes are waning even further.

Case in point, let’s go back to the topic he started out with and see what others are reporting:

“Georgia authorities have launched an investigation into an allegation of systematic ballot harvesting during the state’s 2020 general election and subsequent U.S. Senate runoff and may soon issue subpoenas to secure evidence, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger confirmed to Just the News.”

You can’t say WaPo doesn’t know about ballot harvesting. They just don’t want to report on this latest development: Three results and not a word about this.

So why is it “Big Tech” is trying to silence election integrity efforts going forward, and the Democrats are trying to contravene the Founders and “federalize” elections (with some notable Republican poltroons making “compromise” noises)? And this just in” The “progressive” governor of Washington State wants to make challenging the integrity of election results a punishable crime.

Does anyone else have the feeling that the big lies and the big liars aren’t what and who we’re being told? We are, after all, in Waldman’s case, dealing with a paper that still boasts an award-winning plagiarist on its staff.
